You cannot obtain someones address or name from there number plate , you can confurn them at a road traffic authority by telling them the name and address , but its against the privecy act do be given the info up front . Eric, using government records for a lawful procedure to return lost property is not illegal.

If there are any NSW Police on this forum then they should be able to get the details and notify the owner themselves. If none are here (???) then I will try and get in touch with the owner and pass on the details of this site to him and who he should contact.
