I am after comments good or bad of the benefits of fitting a 3" exhaust on my Ranger Turbo diesel auto, I have been told I can expect approx 20% increase in power and the fore improved fuel economy. I tow a full caravan which weighs approx 2200 kg.
Thanks

G'day
I have fitted a 2.75 inch exhaust and Steinbauer chip to my Mazda BT 50.
I got an increase of about 15% to both power and torque.
Don't think there is any improvement in fuel ecomomy.

Regards
Peter.

Thanks for the reply Pete, I was concerned about the cost of the package ie exhaust and chip and also if I had a warranty problem with the car how the dealer would react when they saw the chip.

I had an 03 3.0l patrol auto, i put a 3 inch exhaust on it and it made a big difference power wise around town, out on the highway though with the van it lost heaps of top end, personally if you tow a lot i wouldnt bother.

Id put the money into a chip, which i had always had in the patrol prior.

cheers

I have a 3inch exhaust plus a chip from a company in Brisbane called Roos Systems installed in my BT50 and am quite impressed with it .
I presently have 29,000 km on the clock and have been pulling a van grossing about 2800 kg . I also have a canopy on my freestyle cab ute with boat, motor, fold up trailer and camping gear in the back. I have upgraded the suspension to Old Man Emu which also increased my GVM for the car. It weighs about 3300 kg with fuel etc.
The people at Roos Systems are very easy to get along with and know all the in and outs of it all. Well worth a call. I don't work for them they have just supplied me with a good product.

Hi Dave,
I would give some thought to the noise that a 3" will create inside the cab.
Having had a 2" on the commodore, and not enjoying the drone it created, I wouldn't be in a hurry to fit a larger exhaust to my bt50 - just my opinion.
