Appreciate any comments on the Wineguard Wingman replacement head for their standard wind up RV Antenna. Heading east from Perth in 3 weeks and want to have reliable digital reception.

I got one a while back, made a small improvement I think. I've never had much trouble getting reception but I thought it may improve it a bit in poor reception areas.

Knowing what I know now I don't think I'd bother.

After another read of your post. The wingman isn't a replacement, it is an add on. They do have a replacement head, can't think of the name of it though!

The Wingman is a useful add on. If you get one, make sure it is the NZ-Wing and not the RV-Wing. The RV-wingdoes not help much with the channels above CH 53. The NZ-Wing was developed by a NZ bloke to cover the higher ones.

This fractal antenna is the replacement unit. It is equally effective on both vertical and horizontal signals.

I was in Port Neill (Eyre Peninsula South Australia last year and there we had to rotate our Tv antenna from vertical to horizontal. Luckily before we left I was talking to our local caravan repairer who advised me of this and he was correct & told me to go to Jaycar Electronics & purchase one of their antennas as these he found were the best on the market
The Wineguard TV antenna was not up to scratch there and I have been able to receive TV reception everywhere I have been & including most places in NT. The Jaycar antenna comes with a booster.

Jaycar sells heaps of TV antennas. We need the exact model. A Jaycar catalogue number (Cat No.) would be sufficient.

We have been selling the Winegard Wingman ad-ons for a while now. At the moment we are seeing a lot of people upgrading to the latest retrofit kit from Winegard for superior reception. They are a funny looking antenna but are proven to work well... Our customer feedback has been that these are a lot better than the previous Winegard antennas and add-ons.

You can see this new product:

Hope this helps,

Hi Mal, I have got a new Wyngard Sensor antenna, i think they are called. We haven't been to any fringe areas for reception yet,but are very pleased with it. It is a funny looking thing with two heads for horizontal and vertical reception. Cheers Bob
