I have traveled this route a lot of times. Go from Yass to Boorowa, Cowra, Canonwindra, Cudal,
Molong,
Wellington, Dubbo. Each of the towns is worth stopping in for a look around.
In Dubbo, I was advised by a
Police colleague not to stay in town. He recommended the Caravan Park close to the Western Plains Zoo. Just last August, some Qld friends stayed in Dubbo city and had many items stolen. It would be worthwhile booking for the Caravan Park to be sure to get in.
Have a look at this site and find the towns you may want to stay in
Good roads all the way. We have camped opposite
the entrance to the
Wellington Caves which is a
free camp.

Look at this
SITE for caravan park recommendations.
The best way to travel, which I have done numerous times, is from Yass to Boorowa, Cowra, Canowindra, Cudal,
Molong,
Wellington, Dubbo. Each of these towns is worth a stop over and look around. They all have something to offer. The roads are all sealed and usually in good condition.
In Dubbo, the safest place to stay is the Caravan Park closest to the Zoo. I was advised by a friend in the
Police to stay there. Last September, friends from Qld were unable to get in and stayed in Dubbo city and had numerous items stolen. I would recommend booking ahead for that Caravan Park.
Enjoy the Central West of NSW.

If you're concerned about break enter and steal then
Wellington will also be off your list, which will be as long as your arm. Thousands have no problems.

The caravan park at the
Wellington caves just before town might be your best bet.
Very pretty and if you like golf and extra bonus.
