Hi All,

Will be fitting a snorkel to my GQ 4.2 diesel soon but I've got some concerns about the ability of the connection where the duct from the precleaner joins to the main air cleaner above the engine to seal out water. Its just a loose fitting square plastic section held in by one bolt. At least if it was a round section it could be properly clamped.

What have other GQ diesel owners done to fix this or is it not a problem?

The last snorkel I fitted to the 4.2 GQ, I replaced the whole air box with a ZD-30 air cleaner unit, that I sourced from a wreck.

This allowed me to use the hose to connect directly to the snorkel, by replacing the top pipe and sealing everything with silicone below the anticipated water line.

The conversion was great, but was very fiddly.

Chris.

Mark, I'm interested to know what you came up with because this was a concern of mine with my patrol. The last water crossing I did (in my work car - not patrol) the water was 2 inches up the windscreen!! Not that I intend to do this in my private car. Any advice.

Thanks Hank
