We plan on leaving
Adelaide for the
Simpson Desert mid August. Can anyone tell me what temperature range to expect.
Any other info/hints also welcome.

It regularly gets down to freezing before dawn. Had one night at minus 5 last year in August. Need a very good sleeping bag and lots of layers. Daytime is nice.

We've had 40+ in early september on two occasions, as with any trip to the centre you will need to dress in layers and peel them off as it warms up and put em back on later in the day.
Sept/Oct it can get up to very high 40's, august could be anywhere from 0 or less o/nite to high 30's during the day.
