Gday
I have just been under the bonnet and found that my 7G 400 valve was not connected . Can anyone tell me what it is for?

Muzbry.
Most vehicle parts have numbers on them. The number has no meaning unless it is used for ordering it, so the number doesn't identify it even to a mechanic.
However if you mentioned what it is bolted to, or what pipes or parts attach to it, or wher ethe pipe comes from, someone will be able to ID it from what it is there for.
I presume the part isn't put there for the sole purpose of displaying it's number to the world so it must be a part of a system.
Have another go!

Gday
Gee you blokes make it hard. There are two rubber pipes , one to the air filter top at the intake where the air is nice and clean, and one to the filter outer where the dust and nasties gather . An electric loom joins to the bottom of old 7G 400 . Now i realy think that it is a switch to tell me when the air filter is not working efficiently . There you go, after a little think, we have all worked it out. Thanks fellas.

Yep, I think you got it in one mate. Turns a little light on the dash on to tell you the restriction in your air cleaner is toooo high.
It looks like a little white mushroom...lol
Cheers

Now we know what you are talking about. It has two wires and as pop2 said, it turns on the blocked air filter warning light.
It isn't a valve, but it is a pressure differential chamber, which when it senses sufficient difference between the incoming air pressure and the intake air pressure it moves a diaphram across and joins the wires.

Obviously the previous owner had a problem with the light on the dash coming on.......... traced it to a not so faulty sensor and bypassed it thinking he fixed the problem....... maybe he should of had a look at the clogged air filter first!

Was all that worked out with zero Chivas on board or fully primed?

Hi Muz. I usually look at the
forum each day, sometimes morning and night. What I can't figure out is how the old faithful Nissan turned into a Toyota, How did I miss that one ? Cheers,Bob. (If it is correct, welcome to the other side. lol)

Wife said to go and buy another car, meaning car, but no, i didn't read between the lines and picked up a 105 series .
This all happened about eight months ago and i am still waiting for her to talk to me.

Muz,
my wife read this morning that they have found the smell of freshly cut lawn clippings soothes the savage beast.
I said.
Well start mowing.
I think it would be have been better if I bought a car.
Have a good one,
RA.
