I have two batteries in my boat--one is a marine battery used for starting the motor and the other is a normal battery same as I use in my Landcruiser which I use to run instruments-lights,sounder ,radio GPS etc.The marine battery is 7 years old and the other is 9 years old.How come similar batteries in my Landcruiser only last 2-4 years?

Im assuming your cruiser is diesel?
It takes a heck of alot more grunt to start a high compression diesel donk for starters which lessens thier life. But also it takes a battery in good shape to start one.
So you could use a battery in a petrol vehicle for much longer before it no longer has the grunt to start it

I don't know about the cruiser, but my merc optimax needs 1000 cca to turn it over. I struggle to get more than about 4-5 years from both vehicle and boat batteries no matter what the brand is.
