Hi All

I have just had a phone call from Robin, and he wishes to pass on his apologies to all those people that have sent emails and tried to contact him by phone for permits to Visit Maralinga.

Robin/Maralinga Village is now in contact with the outside world, but a new contact number is required. Please leave your message and Robin will get back in contact with you.

Maralinga's New Contact Phone Number is (08) 8670 4089

To make things easier for everyone, please give Robin at least three to four weeks advance notice of your intended trip. The turn around time will still be no more than two days for your permit, and must be made direct with him, and not the Maralinga Tjarujua office in Ceduna.

The same applies for those vehicles that will require petrol, as Robin has a very good supply of diesel on hand and requires at least a months notice in advance to organise a petrol delivery for those that will require it.

I will also have some very important information about more great news for the Maralinga area, but until Robin has the green light, I can not say what it is at the moment.

So for those that are looking for an outback destination for this year, but have not decided on where to go (except for a couple of weeks in August), make plans to visit this great location.

Cheers

'but until Robin has the green light"
I thought everything around there glowed green anyway?

Well Steven if that's the best photo you can come up with, a barbed wire fence, I doubt many will be inspired by this photo to deviate from their outback travels for this...hmmm. Give the guy a go and post something decent !

Hi MM

That is the hole idea of that photo.......no permit and that is as close to Maralinga you will get.

It has been a closed site for decades and I personally have tried 3 other times to get permits with a flat NO.

Thee is a lot to see and those that have been there will be able to testify just how great it is.

Here are a couple then without the wire barrier......

As they say, (sorry Hairy, an old saying from the NT Tourist Adverts)

You will never never know if you never never go

Cheers and see you in Maralinga

Thanks for the update Stephen - I trust you have edited the Trek Note(s) to change the phone number too? Let me know if you need any help.
