travel to chambers Pillar

Can anyone assist with info re accessingChambers pillar from Idracowra Station. I cannot locate any contact details for them. We are going to be in the area around 14th 15th of April.
Also is a dessert pass required to drive past Dalhousie springs. Seems like $150.00 is a bit much for a day pass to the area.

No Bazz: you do not need any Permits just to eat your dessert at Dalhousie.
A Desert Parks permit can be obtained, however to access the area..

Bazz:
go to

http://www.exploreaustralia.net.au/South-Australia/Flinders-Ranges-and-Outback/Witjira-National-Park for park information including requirement to have a pass to enter (and/or camp)

go to
http://forms.bizgate.sa.gov.au/deh/parkspasses/desert.htm in order to purchase on-line or
Just pick one up from the Ranger's station at Dalhousie itself.

A day pass to Dalhousie was about $8 from Mt Dare a few years ago.

Hi Bazza

The last time that I contacted Idracowra Station, they said that it was a closed station and the tracks were for station use only, and had to get there the long way round. Things may have changed if the Station has changed hands, so the best bet would be to give them a phone call

As for your Desert Pass, if passing through and not camping, as far as I know there is no charge. There maybe someone that will give you a better answer.

Cheers

Hi Bazz

I know that the station was for sale (Give Ray White Real Estate a call in the Alice, they would have it)

I have lost my contact book, so sorry.

Cheers

I was on Horseshoe bend ( adjoins) for the desert race last June. I believe Idracowra had been sold to over seas interests.
A phone call to the pub / store/ roadhouse at Kulgera may glean some info as to who is actually (if anyone) is on the station. Otherwise a phone call to either Elders Rural services or Landmark at Alice Springs should definitely be able to provide some up to date information as to ownership & residents
