I dont have much experience with the Vitara, and none specifically with its engine, but leaving engine conversions and forced induction aside, I would have thought typical power upgrades would involve things like extractors and free flow exhaust systems (perhaps oversized), but these will increase noise levels and change the noise tone. Other options may be to use aftermarket computer chips for the engine management. Sometimes alternative air filters work (not always though) and maybe using premium unleaded over regular.These mods wont produce earth bleep tering differences, but they should improve performance. I would be weary of some potential intake mods to up power,just in case you get water into the engine.
