satelite phone cards

Hi. I've been reading alot about being able to use your standard telstra post paid phone card in the Iridium network on the motorola 9505 phones. I have an Iphone which has a smaller sim card. Can you use a card adaptor to fit into the 9505 phone?
Cheers Peter

Yep, you can get adapters on ebay for about $5 for a pack of 3.

Which one you get depends on which Iphone you have. Micro or nano cards.

Example ebay search

I should say that I have used the micro to mini ones with sucess in my 9505, though you wouldn't want to be changing it over all the time.

Also I highly reccomend you get a seperate $10 non contract plan. Otherwise you will be paying $4.00 a minute for all and sundry to call, and $1.50 per sms you recieve. This has been discussed a lot on this forum.

We have a Telstra post paid on a $20/month plan. Sat phone costs are $2/min for calls but to each party and sms is free. We only use for emergency calls (none so far) and use sms a lot to update family on our location. It all works well. Derek

Warning, do not buy the cheap and nasty ones, normally white or off white in colour. We used these switching between the Iphone 5 and Samsung Galaxy for testing and they damaged the simm holder on the Samsung. We have since bought black ones from a higher quality source and they are rigid in design vs the white ones which flex.

Boobook,

No idea what the plan is called, we have had it for years; it may not even be available anymore. One reason for keeping it was for this purpose.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.
Regards,
Derek
