When we last travelled up
Cape York(some 12 years ago) I seem to remember that we had to get our fruit and vegies pre-packed and not use them till we got to a quarantine
check point. As we are planning a trip to Iron Range NP. in June can anyone please tell me whether this requirement is still in place.
Thanks in advance, Tom

Thats correct. There is no north bound quarintine stn and they mainly ask about any fruit you may have brought down from Torres Strait region on return.

You will notice a BIG difference on the Development Road. These days it is extremely dangerous with many more vehicles most of whom are towing trailers at warp speeds. Make sure you have windscreen cover on your insurance.

Idler Chris is right. Last year I went up in July and again in late October. The difference in the amount of traffic was dramatic. No exaggeration! Also no crowding at campsites, e.g.Loyalty Beach was almost deserted. No standing shoulder to shoulder on
Seisia Jetty for a chance to catch a fish. A bit warmer but definitely not too hot. This year I'm going up after the end of September school holidays.
