Comment: HD HERO 3 White Edition

What is the difference, apart from price between this camera and the silver version??? Are they suitable for use as a reversing camera on a caravan and a real-time viewer whilst towing???

Phil,
Quite a bit of difference between the white and silver (Silver and black are pretty comparable).

5 mega pixel as opposed to 12mp with the other two. Silver and black are wifi capable and have a remote control unit for turning them on and off. The White is not “GoPro App” compliant. The App allows you to stream via wifi direct to your apple or android phone/pad and control it from this unit as well.

Supported formats are also different. Have a look at the compare below. It would be a hell of a good quality reversing camera. You'd need the silver at a minimum for the wifi.

Cheers Mick. Must have had a bout of `Sunday morning' brain!!! LOL After I posted I went to their website and had a look. Could not get a definative answer on live-stream via wi-fi though.
I realise it could be overkill for caravan camera but thought its other uses make good value as we are into our photography and image making big time.
I thought a high quality rear view camera would contribute to driving and safety whilst towing the van. Anything has to be a help I thought.
Have a great weekend mate.
Thanks for the input.

Cheers Phil. I have just reveived a "Black" version so keen to try it. No doubt a few snippets might end up ion EO of the upcoming 2013 outback sojourn. You've got me motivated so I might go and download the App to the Ipad now.

Here's a link to an explanation of the App. I'll let you know how I go.

I have the "black" version aswell.
How ever, now i need to upgrade my computer to be able to process the high quility video to get the most out of it.

Check the specs on your computer before you decide which model gopro you decide to buy.

A smart phone can be used as a remote and screen for the goPro but the problem is there is a time lapse.

Two iphones can be used as a camera and remote screen for ie a reversing camera with an avail app.
