I am considering to hire a sat phone for a 3 month trip to WA. Appreciate some advice as to most suitable phone and best hire place in and around
Melbourne. Quick web
check indicates it seems to be a relatively expensive proposition.

Are you going bush?
3G/4G coverage is pretty good in WA

For a 3 month hire period you may be better off purchasing a second-hand phone.

The cheapest hire rate seems to be $5 per day x 90 days = $450.
Used Iridium 9505 can be purchased for $559 in the Exploroz
Classifieds here.

And probably sold for $559 here or on ebay Alan.
The other advantage is that you can use a telstra post paid $10 per month for 3 months. i am not sure but I'll bet most hirers will make you use their "plan"

Check with Telstra before you go and buy one. They told me you can only get a 2 yr plan. I don't know what to believe anymore. Many different
views out there.
