Yes, another tyre question. Had a blowout on one tyre the other day so bought a new one at short notice to cover, ended up being a Sumitomo A/T. Made in Japan, $180 fitted for 175/70 X 16. Anyone had experience with these?

Tim,
Those posts above are probably the same people I end up towing out of the bush when they have run out of beer;batteries for the ghetto blaster; or couches to burn at the top of Mount Panorama, not worth bothering about. Thanks to others for the sensible replies, will keep this one as a spare,

rolande, i was just stating that the tyres have a very thin side wall. this is just a fact. they might be ok on the road and on the beach but if you take them off road you run a higher risk of staking them........

Was pointing out the value of the post above yours, not yours directly, seriously though, the Sumi's have 4 ply sidewalls, I compared to SWMBO ute's BFG A/T and they have 3 ply stamped on them. Is it my ignorance then that not all ply ratings are alike? I thought they may be reasonable with 4ply. Is this just the Jap's finding another way to rip us off again? Interested in your experience

Diamond (and anyone else),
What's your opinion on Bridgestone D693"s? Bushtracker use them on their offroad caravans.
P.S. I hope your ducks aren't asian.
