My Place Rating: My Rating 5/5

The park has recently changed management and the main amenities block has been completely refurbished and is now terrific. The secondary block is average but may also be updated soon. There is a boat launching ramp to the creek usable on higher tides but many beach launch also.
The park is great for families with children having a safe, shallow, tidal creek running around it, protected surfing beach, great fishing, bushwalks on "The Hat" and a couple of general stores plus a Bowling Club with restaurant for those times when you don't want to cook! Bring kayaks to paddle up the creek, pushbikes to get around and whatever recreation equipment turns your fancy. Kids can safely snorkel in the creek (where spearfishing is banned) and the surf beach is patrolled in tourist season. Christmas time is heavily booked but sometimes cancellations can be found. Garbage collection is regular in peak seasons and a dump point is available for RVers.
South West Rocks and Kempsey are only about 15 and 20 minutes away by car respectively. Both have shopping centres and medical facilities with a well regarded hospital at Kempsey.
Expect traffic delays around the peak Xmas holiday season in Kempsey but a bypass of town may eliminate these when opened soon.
Visit "Panoramio" on Google Earth for some local photos.
Very highly recommended especially for those with young children.
