Anyone got any ideas as to where I may purchase an LED type ammeter? Perhaps about the size of 1/3 of a fag packet. I believe they exist in a form that you can affix with adhesive strip to a suitable place on/in/under the dash.

Checked out the archives and Jaycar, both to no avail.

Hi Ross,
Check out Altronics. They have both a bar graph one (cheap) and an LCD one (not so cheap).

I lie!
the LCD is really an LED numeric display. $74.95, kit form.
Bar graph display is $26.95, kit form. There are quite a few other goodies there on the Automotive section to stir the juices up.

If you're technical, you can make one - I used a standard LCD DVM from Altronics, and a 7660 ic to make a split +/- supply to run the DVM module (it must be floated). Then used a standard current shunt. The DVM and 7660 prob cost about $35. Can supply tech details if required.

Sounds like the same as Jaycar's.
Doesnt perform as an ammeter tho.
Otherwise it's probably all you need. Jaycar flog one for about $39.
