Hello all. Has anyone passed by wolfe creek / bililuna in recent days? Have been watching the weather at Hall's Creek and seen nothing but very hot and dry last couple of weeks, but would appreciate some on-the-ground opinion on the track conditions heading south toward kunawaritji.
Cheers,
Alex

Alex,
Given the amount of rain that fell across that region due to the recent cyclone, there may
well be a lot of water sitting about in the areas immediately south of Billiluna. There are several large claypan areas that will hold water for quite a long time. It’s still a bit early for the accepted travel season to commence and I think most experienced travellers would caution against travelling the route at this time. You can expect it to remain in the 30C+ temperature range for a couple of months yet.
I would suggest you
check the
Halls Creek Shire website for up to the minute track condition reports and closure notifications.
Regards
Mick

Cheers Mick. I have a couple of weeks before the off, if the rain holds off till then it'll have been dry for a month. Think that's long enough?

It'd be remiss of me to give you that advice when I'm 4000 km away. Mate I'd
check with the
Halls Creek Shire. Providing it's not too boggy, you can actually work your way around the largest of the claypans. A bit rough but it will get you by.
Cheers

Gooday,
I suggest you phone, or E-Mail
Halls Creek Visitor Information Centre, they were very
well informed and helpful when I checked there before travelling that route a couple of years ago.
Cheers,
Boroma604.

Cheers. I did in fact call them yesterday, and they were very helpful. Current position is open 4wd, they've had no significant rain in 3 weeks.
