Thanks Truckster - it makes good reading though I am sure our kids would not be so enthusiastic to do it in three days! Roll on September to Camerons corner/Flinders for two weeks and Birdsville etc for two weeks in April...2001 Landcruiser 100S Turbo Diesel

Yeah, I read it........whats the point?....just a long drive wasting fuel and stopping to see nothing apart from road kill...or are you still trying to convince yourself to do an inane trip like this in the middle of summer...mind you we are having a very cool summer out here in the bush!

To be honest, just to get away, go somewhere different, there are plans for a bigger trip either late this yr or early next yr, so trying a few things out...

Yea the summer has been average, only 37, 35, and 38 last week or so! LOL..

That's a long day 1300k's. 3 days in a row you would be pretty RS.

I regularly travel to Sydney from Adelaide and that's 1400 each way. If I do it a leg in one day it is usually leave at 6am, a couple of breaks and about 40 mins for lunch then arrive about 9pm (14hrs driving/1 hr not). By the end of it I am pretty well stuffed. That's 110-120km/h blacktop most of the way.

I hear what you said about driving rigs (always wondered where you would get a name like Truckster from!) but thats still alot of wheel time in only a few days.

Don't talk about it Truckster just do it if thats what you want to do.
Don't worry what others think it's your money and time so go.

Just try to avoid the wildlife your mate Ruley seems to have gotten real close to nature a couple of times.
Have a safe trip and enjoy.

Regards
John

And to think myself and my other half have whinged to ourselves about 10,000 Km in 30 days last year out in that neck of the woods.

Not near enough time to satisfactorily take it all in.

I'm afraid the idea does not hold much appeal.

Thats the thing though, when you dont have 30 days up your sleeve, or the $ to do it in in 30 days, and even when you do have 30/50days, you cant see 10% of what there is...

Its more a fun, challange thing than a serious trek, try a few things out on the cars, maybe mate will have his camper trailer built by then, so a road trip is exactly what it needs before a serious trip...
