How would fuel consumption compare on this section to the Simpson.
From everything I've read it looks not as demanding except for the corrugations.
The car is a V6 ULP and in the sand dunes we get through about 22L/100km.
This site indicates about 260L for a V6 but that's the whole trip, it's only this section that needs some thought.
Any one taken a V6 over this section.

Jo Hi,
My 3.8 V6 Pajero used 20.5 L per100 k for that section. At that stage I was fully laden fuel, food, water etc. Yes it is less demanding than the Simpson but don't sell it or any remote track short as they can bite at the most unexpected time.
If You allow the 22L/100km and an allowance for Murphy You should be ok.
Mike.

Thanks, we generally carry 190L, I reckon 1 extra jerry should be ok.
Yep it does sound like the track is rough and the corrugations relentless, but those who have done it all agree it's worth it, we want to join that list.

Hi, c/w the Simpson you should gain more favorable economy. It is flat and hard base road with lots of corrugations. Enjoy!

Bump......Is that it, two replies and I'm appreciative indeed of those two.

I am not sure that you can buy unleaded at Ilkurlka. I would ring them and
check. I'm pretty certain they only had diesel when we went thru there in 2008. I could be wrong.
