gdat rottwheeler.
the lead that comes with your weaco you can plug straight into your lighter socket and run your fridge.
a better way to do it would be to run 6mm wire from your battery through a fuse and to an extra socket and run it that way.
cheers

Whats the current draw Jemima? Would it heat up the socket too much and cause other problems? If you hold your heart and focus,

I have 45 ltr WAECO and have tried it on the power socket in the BA XR 8 and it will only work for a short time before the compressor cuts out (engine not going), however it will operate ok while the engine is running.

Rotty,

I run a Waeco 'Outback' power pack in the boot of my Honda Civic. I had a Hella plug installed in the boot with 6mm wire direct from the battery and keyed to the ignition (only has juice when ignition is on). This means the power pack is charging when I'm driving and is running the fridge (CF40) all the time. Fridge does not run from vehicle battery at all. Runs beaut. No mucking around with draping leads thru the car.

The point cost $125 for TJM to supply and fit and gives me protection of the main battery. Nothing to switch over when stopping - all automatic when ignition is switched off.

BTW - the guys at TJM almost had a fit when I gave them a Civic to work on. They usually only work on 4WD's!!!!

When I get the new Prado I will be checking out the voltage drop from the standard rear 12v outlet and possibly replacing with 6mm cable. Anyone 120 Prado owners got any comments or feedback here???

It's on order, Delivery in April '04.
This pic will have to do till then. Can't wait!!!
