G'day Axle, I have driven Peugeots for 40 years, all used ,& never had a major issue.
I havent had a 306, currently driving a 94 405..same motor, same gearbox....& a
lovely 07 307 diesel. As with all used cars..buy the lowest k"s with the best service
history. They generally sell at a good price as folk are reluctant to try a strange
brand. They are reliable & economical, & safe...comfortable with great handling.
Yes, I am biased. Look for a well cared for car & you should have no worries... the
207 & early 307 are other options...cheers.....oldbaz.

Good to hear Baz, Have heard reports of sluggish performance down low and a few niggling elec problems with the 306 but all in all
pretty good.

Cheers Axle

We had one. Handled well, went well, niggling electrical issues drove us mad and eventually caused a fire in the dash. The rhs drivers window mechanism failed maybe 5 times. It spent half its life with the window 1/3 open and still no bugger would nick It. Our 306 wasn't the rallye version, but same car different stickers.

We have the last model of the 406 and bought it new in 2002.
Of all the cars we have owned it has been by far the most reliable. It has never been back to the dealer for anything. And I keep it immaculate. The body rust warranty had just expired (12 years).
Just ticked over 100,000 kms. and still has the original battery.
Oil changes, fuel, filters, front brake pads and a set of Michelin tyres have been the only expenses.
Runs at around 5.2 to 5.4 lhk.
Still tight and no rattles, six air bags.
Has exceptional brakes and handling.
My brother and my son have later models, same story.
Cheers
Stan
