From what I recall there used to be a selection called "Ruined Castle" don't think there was any "castle" which is in ruins. There was also a place called "Ruined Castle Hill" which I presume was in the same place.

Googled it and here is a piece of interesting trivia, an ad for the station back in 1866

"FOR SALE, the RUINED CASTLE
CREEK STATION (with Improvements),
comprising 65 square miles of well-grassed
Country, intersected by permanent waters, and
encircled by natural barriers. it is situated in
a district which has been long settled, and in an
easily accessible position, being in the immediate neighborhood of Taroom, and thus only
about 120 miles from Rockhampton. The
tenure is a fourteen years' lease under the new
Regulations, subject to an annual rental of
£30.
As, if desired, the Run will be sold without
any stock, a rare opportunity is presented to
those who seek to engage in Pastoral pursuits
on a small scale, but desire room for the exten-
sion of operation.
Purchase Money, £400.

Carl,

Welcome to the Area, I'm in Chinchilla :)

Ruined Castle is actually in places here as Ruined Castle Hill and by the looks it is not accessible by road, although I am not sure if the Expedition Park Trek Notes traverses close enough to actually see it.

Ruined Castle Hill

There is also some more details here - Info from Bonzle.com :)

Cheers Kev

Hi Carl

The hill is a sandstone cliff formation partly on the western edge of Palmgrove National Park, which is not open to the public. You can see the cliffs/formation though from the road between Bauhinia Downs and Taroom. What is accessible nearby in this area is the Expedition National Park containing Robinson Gorge, which is definitely worth a look if you're up that way - camping and a couple of walking tracks/lookouts available.

Cheers,
John

Carl, try Mt Moffatt too if you haven't already been there. Make sure that the road all the way to "Mahogany Forest" and "Head of Carnarvon Ck" is open. They are worth going to. The track has/had been closed for some time.
Cheers
