Hello,

I am looking at a 80W solar panel with a 80AH deep cycle battery kit.
I have a 45 litre EvaKool fridge. I was wondering if this would be enough to run the fridge, a few LED light strips and charge a phone every so often.

Thanks
Adam.

Hi ahurle

i have a 55 litre fridge mate with a 100 amp battery plus LED strip lighting though my panel is 140W. i had it running in the back yard for 2 weeks and the lowest my battery got to was 12.5 Volts so about 70%. the temp was 28 to 32 degrees opening for beer and drinks during that time the dial was on 3 and the highest the temp got to was 4.8 degrees . The EvaKool/Fridgemate fridges are very economical to run my cycles on about 40 % of the time and off for 60% of the time. so i recon you should be OK though a larger Panel will defiantly help and also remember if the fridge is full it's on cycles are not on as long.

The difference in price for a 120 watt is a few dollars. Worth it.

Thanks everyone.
I was thinking I might even upgrade to 120W solar. Would the 80AH battery and the 120w solar be ok? Or do you think I should go to a 100AH or larger battery aswell?

I really am stuck on what combo I should have.

Thanks
Adam.

the extra battery amps and increase solar watts will take a little of the worry out when the weather is bad. and the extra would be about 100 dollars worth the investment i feel.
