Hi All,

Looking at purchasing a quick set up tent for 4 week trip to Alice Springs, etc later in the year. Very keen on the Blackwolfe Turbo 240 Plus, there are 5 of us, 2 adults 3 kids. My question is do you think this tent will be big enough for us? Don't really want to go to Turbo 300 Plus as will not fit in the back of Pagero and too heavy to put on roof racks easily!! Thoughts please ....!! Nicole

I have had the Black Wolf turbo40 plus for about 2 years or so. It is fine for 2 adults and bags/clothes. I reckon it would fit 3 very comfortably but 5 would be a shoehorn job. It is reasonably quick setup but adding the fly takes a little longer. We purchased a poly canvas touring tent for desert treks and a gulf trip as it was quicker again than the Black Wolf. I think you would need the 300plus

Thanks for your reply. Mmm..... And this is why I haven't purchased anything yet .... The 300 would certainly give us more room. I looked at the oztrail tourer 10 plus with sidepole kit which is a bit bigger than the 240 and sounds quick to set up!! Do you know much about this tent?

Hi Nicole,
How old are your kids? Could two of them sleep in a 2 or 3 man tent next to your blackwolf? Most of those are very quick to set up and pack down small. We have a blackwolf turbo 300 (not plus) and it is very heavy and large in its bag. It only fits in the back of my Pajero on an angle, making it difficult to pack other stuff.
Just another thought - how about looking at the 240 plus in a shop and laying some camp mats on the floor to see how much room there is?
Enjoy your trip!
Leanne

The oztrail tourer twin is a good option, better shape than the 10plus

The other option is the blackwolf 240 twin similar concept and would easliy fit 5 with a bit of space for gear

the big difference is oztrails pack flat and like a large square, the blackwolfs pack like a big barrel

Thanks. I have been looking for a 240 plus set up in shop to try out sleeping arrangements but can't find one. Convinced a guy at Anaconda to set it up for me but it wasn't pegged down so kept falling over! See my other post re kids 12, 10 and 7, 10 year old on autism spectrum so a bit tricky!! Any other advise on type of tent, preferably canvas!!

I would say it would be very cramped in a 240 plus. How old are the kids? I'd either go for a 300 plus (lite) or get 2 tents and have the older kids in the other tent.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. Really wanted to get a canvas tent, not too keen on the Blackwolfe lights. Kids are 12, 10 and 7, 10 year old is on the autism spectrum so need to keep him close, others are 7 and 12. So that really just leaves 12 year old to sleep in separate tent as I think 7 is too young, I'm thinking maybe the Tourer 10 plus or the Tourer twin. Is the quality of these OK, they are quite in expensive compared to others? Are they quick to set up too? More thoughts ........

Hi Nicole

I have the 240 and it is good for 2 adults. I don't think I would try more people in this size, it is a great tent but not for 5 people. Perhaps let the kids sleep in the 4wd.
