travelling from Mackay to the Bungles Bungles via Longreach across the Plenty Hiway to Alice than up the tanimi thick. I'm going to leave in the latter part of August, I was wondering if anyone was heading that way around that time.

We did the Tanami late last year in Sept and did it on our own from Halls Creek to Alice Spring with out any problems just make sure you have plenty of fuel as Rabbit Flat is closed plenty of places to camp of the road , If you require any more info just ask.

Hi Peter,

Yes we did tow that van across, it is a Trakmaster fully off road van and we did not have any problems, although my wife considered it rather rough in places. We only stopped 1 night off road and you can get phone service near the mine which was a nice surprise....

I'll have 300lts of fuel under the tray of the cruiser. I just want to veg out and look at the sites, going to be back home in 5 weeks after I leave. Just a trial trip to see what I need to carry for further trips into the deserts later on. thanks again.

Hi Ray
We're travelling around mid August as well, leaving from Caboolture.
Maybe heading to Birdsville first, then up to Buiola, Plenty Hwy, Alice, Tanimi, Broome. Then who knows!
This time travelling at a slower pace with an off-road caravan instead of camper.

Hi Andrew,

I'm going to head from Mackay probably on the 17th of August. I should be in Boulia a couple of days later. I haven't put holidays as yet. I got a ute with a canopy and tent. If you got a date to be in Boulia and don't mine some company to travel with let me know and I'll put in holidays to suit.
