Do you need a rattle gun to wind down the van legs???
I see people with just a cheap battery drill doing that.

Personally I wouldn't buy anything from super crap, I am yet to buy something from there that has stood the test of time.

I have one of These it is part of a set that includes a drill and grinder, I would also buy the 3.0ah battery.

I would not recommend using a rattle gun to wind down the legs on your van, my experience on a similar exercise turned an wind down spare wheel holder into a broken useless item, a drill would be a better option.

There's plenty of good stuff at all three of those stores in my experience. Like every shop these days they also have their share of lesser quality items.

Any particular items you've had trouble with?

try to find something that's not home brand in Rays or BCF (wild country & Spinifex) made in China or Tin! The big ticket brand stuff such as Waeco, Engel, Oztent etc they have to stock as the reputation of these Co. and product quality forces them to as there is no cheap "reliable" Chinese copy yet!
The rest of the stuff these stores stock is junk!

I can honestly say that anything I have bought at SCA has gone in the bin and been replaced by either Sydchrome, Repco or Snap on, I now have about 30k worth of gear and thrown out well I would rather not know.

On the other side of the coin I can honestly say that nothing I've bought from SCA has been poor quality or thrown out. Among other things I have two excellent SCA trolley jacks, a canvas roof rack bag, torque wrench, rated shackles, a mini socket set, long arm wheel nut wrench. Maybe none of it is moon rocket quality but it will all outlast me.

Nothing wrong with the vast majority of clothing, swags, stretchers, fuel cans, packs, cooking devices, boots, sleeping bags etc etc at Rays David. They stock lots of well known brands. The fact that many things are now manufactured in China might be annoying you but if you "look under the bonnet" you might be surprised just how many components of your favourite brands are being made under license in that country. Check out the enormous range of high quality kitchen equipment you can now buy for little more than a song. All brand names and very high quality, made in China. Frankly I take the slagging off against SCA and Chinese goods in general with a grain of salt. Do your homework before purchasing anything significant and you won't go far wrong.

Just by the by Aussie Traveller. Sidchrome was made in China (Taiwan) when I last looked and a large lump of Repco's stuff is from Red China, probably from the same factory as SCA in many cases. Guess that will all be going in the bin now?

I purchased one of these nearly 2 years ago and have used it many times without a problem. I just use my small power pack to run it.

Impact wrench and Jack.

I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

I'm a big fan on Ryobi 18v lithium range, theres pretty well nothing they dont have now inc rattle guns, fans etc, and its well priced and bloody reliable!

The van legs have some sort of a shear/roll pin which will break easily if pushed to hard.
