Pam Armstrong will be on the Canning in 10 days time, starting from
Wiluna around the 7th of May. She will have a support vehicle with Tony Rhodes driving her brightly painted Toyota Landcruiser. It is their first time on the Canning dunes. They will be traveling for two months. Please keep an eye out for them.

Hi Gaynor,
We wish you and Pam a safe and uneventful trip. Helen, Missy (our Blue Heeler) and I are leaving
Darwin on May 5th via Gunbarrel &
Wiluna to travel up the CSR, my 3rd time (1978 & 2012). Hope to catch up. We will be in the white 2.8 Hilux ute.
Regards, Dave

Look forward to meeting you three, but my timing might be a bit late.
I am walking separately to Pam. Driving the route first from mid May to lay supply drops with Andy (Canning Peugeot 505 driver) in his old 47 Series Toyota Landcruiser this time. I will then start walking solo from Billiluna end May.
I do hope we meet, but if not, I know Pam would appreciate a few words.
Take care and enjoy. Must be great for you both to do it with Missy :-)

I haven't heard about this! What is the reason for walking! Michael

Reason for walking? I haven't got a 4x4 :-)
Seriously, you would need to ask Pam her own reasons. I cannot speak for her. Pam is on Facebook under Artist Pamela Armstrong. She was involved with a previous attempt with a group called Defying Adversity in 2012. The Senses Charity was the cause. This group failed to start the walk, the team falling apart a few months before the start. They are apparently going to try in 2014, but their Facebook page and website have been dead for a year now, and no replies to emails or posts, so maybe the idea has died a quiet death.
As for myself, I broke my back a year ago in NSW as a result of a paragliding accident. I am grateful to be able to walk. I am celebrating that grace by walking the
Canning Stock Route - Every Step of the Way - and in doing so I am raiding funds for two causes close to my heart.
1) Wespac Rescue Helicopter
Services - they came to my rescue.
The story is here

2) Walking for Quadriplegic Rugby Wheelchairs - I could be in a wheelchair. Spared that fate, I would like to help those who are. That story is here:

Cheers

Ok! Thanks for that! I guess its to highlight the plight of varying degrees of disability! I see some people my age struggling to get around so I am always thankful that I am ok! Good luck with the walk, I hope all goes
well. Michael
