Recently got a new SatNav put into my 2007 Prado VX. Apparently it's the current SatNav OEM unit used in most new Toyota 4WDs (Prado, LandCruisers, FJs etc). Has anyone tried upgrading the software to add more features like you can do with other SatNav units)?

Factory sat nav unit are pretty basic and there is not much you can do to the Toyota units..... the only thing I know of is you can disable the speed sensor so you can use it whilst travelling.

Apparently you can copy the later installation/map DVD's to get the latest updates such as map updates etc. From memory you need to read some of the forums etc. From my person opinion I have an 2013 Landcruiser 200 series which comes with the latest SAT NAV and I still prefer using Tom Tom on my Iphone.

Is it just street navigation (find the way home) or does it do any of the off road 4WD touring.

What about displaying the Hema maps and have tracks and waypoints?

It's a typical Windows CE navigation based unit. No 4WD maps...I would love Hema or VMS on there

Our VMS box is Windows CE and we the Oziexplorer version that runs on a Windows CE platform.

The other avenue is to talk to Toyota about getting the Ozi file executing.

Better still look at www.lcool.??? Its the Toyota forum. You wouldn't be the first maybe there is a way to do it.
