They would I think be super low gear ratio in the transfer case, called crawler gears. So basically you can go slower and more controlled extreme driving, more revs and slower speed. Michael

generaly fit them to 4wd's that run 35 and over..
to get decent off road gearing.

normal 4wd's as well, even better if towing the camper trailer... engine braking, or more gears at your disposal.

35" or larger tyres. They have a much larger circumference and therefore higher geared.

I have them fitted to my Patrol and they do make quite a difference.

I would question them on an 80 series because they already have low gearing and from our experience their gearbox can be weak.

The Patrols have a 2:1 transfer box ratio and I fitted ones which gave my car 2.88 : 1

I never needed it on my manual patrol but with my auto patrol they have issues of lack of engine braking and control.

The gears were quite an improvementand the car can still get to 80 in low.

The only downside is that they are straight cut gears and make a slight noise but not to bad.
