Hi all we crossed the mighty river but be aware that as the first of May the fares have been increased now the fares are mightier than the river $130 for one vehicle so if you are towing trailer or van put some extra aside folks.

Cripes, when we went through in 2009 it was $80.00
I like to support the locals but this seems a bit excessive increase for a 2 minute trip
Cheers

Let me guess. The actual cost is about $40 but the rest is for licences and insurance?

People will line up to pay it, then whinge about it.
If you want to go to
the Tip you have to pay....unless you want to try the old crossing.....
like this shows near the end.........
Hoo roo,

In 1980 no ferry no fee. Had to be wary of crocs wading through the river to mark best way across. Croc numbers down back then due to hunting.

$130 as a percentage of the total cost of getting there is tiny. This amount covers not only the ferry but includes access to the Cape. This increase will not stop one person going to the Cape. The only reason I am not going to the Cape again are the idiots on the PDR showering everyone with stones.

Could not agree more, we nearly came a cropper trying to overtake a semi who decided to speed up as we were alongside his cabin then we both hit the dirt and another occassion we had a guy coming the other way on our side of the dirt around a corner.
The bit that I can't resolve is the 60% rise in ferry fees, I can see people thiking about doing the crossing. When we returned they didn't ask to see our ticket at all.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable trip apart from those incidents
cheers
