We are about to head from Victoria to the North of WA then down to Perth. Has anyone found some lovely station stays/free camps that they could recommend to us please.
Thanks Julie

Hi Julie, I havent a list of camps or anything, but thought your post deserved at least
one response. A book called Camps Australia Wide 7 has most of the free & low
cost camps in Oz..also contains a full Hema Road Atlas. If you put "Camping near ??"
into Google you will find plenty to study as well. Same goes for farmstays.
Folk are becoming a bit reluctant to disclose their fav spots, as putting them on EO
can be a bit of a death sentence re overuse etc..
cheers.....oldbaz.

There is also a book available in newsagents (or at least there is in Broome) called something like Free Camping Australia. Don't know how good it is.

Hi Julie,

There are heaps of potential campsites between Vic and NW WA - far too many to list here, and also it all depends which way you are going. Camps Australia will get you off to a good start, and as Oldbaz points out a full set of maps is also included. As you become an experienced traveller you may become quite good at finding secluded spots suitable for an overnighter or even longer, but you might not want to disclose their whereabouts. A browse through some relevant blogs could also give you some tips and clues.

Cheers,

Val

Hi Julie check this website http://ozcamps.net/freecampinglist.php?st=WA
Also there are some good camp sites listed on the dept. of environment and conservation website.
That should be a good start.
Be sure to call into Fraser Range when coming across the Nullabor. It's a great station stay. It's around about 100k's east of Norseman.

If you use a smart phone you can download the wikicamps app for $2.95 and it will provide you with plenty of free sites to camp and opinions from those who have been there before you, along with heaps of information.
