We get our new Concept Belmont caravan in July 2013 and at present are obtaining the basic necessary items. I know I have to purchase a 15amp extension lead but don't now the average length I will need any suggestions do I need more thane one, also the same with the sullage hose and water. I have been thinking of purchasing a in-line filter for the water and to have it connected from day one for filling of the tanks and when connected to the mains, What type should I buy like micron size, can you recommend any and if so where can I purchase it from.
Can you suggest any other items I might need in starting off for the van .
Thank you in anticipation.
Ian

Hi Ian G4
First lets start with the power lead you should only need one they are 30m or 15m long I have seen them for sale at hardware stores or you can try sites like e-bay or coast to coast caravan accessories or camec for you water filter you can buy at the same shops like your sullage hose I would buy some towing mirrors if you don't have any many makes on the market & kindsshop around places like B.C.F sell this stuff to maybe a solar panel or generator if you wish to free camp also a trail a mate jack makes life easy & the wife can use it LOL a annexe mat for the ground so you don't take the dirt into the van keeps the wife happy Ian what size is your van & what is your tow car
Bruce B Happy caravaning when you pick it up

Hi Bruce
Thank you for all of your suggestions. I am in the process of getting the accessories.
We are buying a Concept Belmont 19'6 internal size and will tow it with a 2013 Mitsubishi Pajero.

Ian Hi,
Welcome to the wonderful world of Vanning.
One suggestion,Drinking water hose. The normal garden hose will 'taint' the water as you use it and that in the tanks.

Regards Mike.

If you use new hose yes, no if it's been used for 12 months or more for watering the lawn .

Get 2 15 amp power leads. one X 20m and a 10m , because the day will come when you will need just a couple of more meters....as sure as the Sun rises in the East.

Ian,

Have you checked what you get with the new van. It may come with all of that included in the boot of the van...ours (different brand to yours) came with 15amp lead, sullage hoses, white hose for potable water connection, caravan jack...in fact everything meeded to head off on a trip. Your may do as well. Worth checking before you buy it all again.

Cheers

I brought my first van in 2012, be careful if you are going to purchase an AMP-HIBIAN (used to conect from the Household 10 amp, 240v to the15 amp extension cord) because some from the major handyman stores are to thick to fit. Inline waterfilters can be brought from any handyman store or caravan accessory store.

Happy travells

Hi Doylie,
I wasn't aware that their were different sizes (thickness) of 15 amp extension leads, I will look at it once the Ampfibian arrives in the mail.
Thank you
