Hi Phill,
I think that they are like those long blonde hairs of your girl friend that seem to stick all over the car seat where they are easy for your wife to find.

Hi Phil,

I think a sticky thread is one that stays at or near the top of the page, so that is seen by everyone and not just allowed to disappear down the page.

It's more like a queue jumper thread which doesn't stick where it is in line and continually rises to the top, floating, ie same as scum at a sewerage farm.

Perhaps "priority" thread, or is that too conventional and doesn't have a trendy name like Blog for a note or message.

Lucky Blog has an "L" in it otherwise it would be more closely related to the sewerage scum.
The ever changing world of word.

A "sticky" thread is one that is placed permanently at the top of a forum / category. Even if no one posts in it, it will still show up on the first page. This is often done for special announcements, rules / guidelines, and FAQs.
