I lost an old friend today....

Had it almost half my life...went on every trip with me..never let me down..didn't make a noise..just did its job. Only 30 years out of warranty too.....
Yep, my trusty old Finch 3way died this morning...went to fire it up on gas & had two
gas jets instead of one...as the unwanted one turned the wiring into a molten mess,
with accompanying black smoke..I refrained from using the extinguisher & turned off
its life support at the bottle....I knew CPR wasn't going to cut it.
After I stopped crying..it was onto the net for a new one..going away Saturday..no
time to lose. He'll get a proper Engel this time, you thinks ???. Wrong, wrong...
love that gas...no tricky solar substations, batteries & the like. After due diligence
I had to drive to Juliaville for a nice new Gasmate from Repco, & it now sits on the kitchen floor quickly bringing a doz stubbies of Old to the required state. Will treat it to a dose of lpg tomorrow, & back into the Jack it goes ready for the big trip west.
Funeral ? I hear you ask...no, no, out into the shed as a storage box.
Wake ? Definitely. No more wasting time with you lot..it starts NOW...:)))).
cheers.....oldbaz.

Old Baz

Ah, the 3 way Finch fridge.

We have ours for around 34 years.Bought it before we were married.

It has been and still is a great little fridge. It was mainly used on gas as the Tercel and other little cars couldnot be decked out with a 2nd battery etc.

Alas it has now been relegated to the laundry and is used to keep the dogs meat cold.

The X great dane thinks it is a great fridge. lol

David, You must really love the stuff. It takes a lot to get you to pop your head over the barricades.

Paul, Yes love the Old - used to drink way to much of that stuff.

Bruce, Old mate not Old Girl. No need for another missus one is enough trouble.

Hmmm, not sure about the Old but I am convinced our 3 way in the van, Dometic I think, works best when run on gas. Not sure why that may be so unless the 240 has too much volt drop or whatever. Never tried on 12v, too power hungry for my liking.

Cheers

Yes, I know the feeling well, Oldbaz and I feel your pain.

Just a few days ago my old quadbike died. At least I found her dead.

Same story: get another one and keep going.

Read about my dead quadbike (ATV).
