Hi All,

We are heading to The Kimberley/Broome from Adelaide in 3 weeks time and by the time we get to Broome it will be over 5000km since the pre-trip service.

As a bit of preventative maintenance before our return journey I thought I'd get the oil and filters done while in Broome, does anyone have any recommendations where to get this done and an indication of costs involved.

Thanks in advance.

Do a Forum search on "Broome" , after accommodation queries I think you will find the next most frequently listed subject is about mechanical repairs. As I haven't been there in > 25 years I can't personally comment, but I do remember one place being mentioned and complained about a few times in the Forum over the past 2-3 years!

Wouldn't worry about a service, if the whole trip is about 10 to 20 thousand k you will do no harm if using good quality oils and filters.
If you do a lot of dusty conditions, the air filter is the only thing I would worry about.

I used Minshull Mechanical to install reduction gears in my old Patrols gearbox and also repair my longranger tank when it cracked they did a great job they can be found on Guy street.

Good luck have a great trip.

NT diesel with synthetic oil is good for 15,000km if not towing. If towing buy some oil and a filter and change it yourself. The local dump or council depot can recycle oil just ask someone there.

It would pay to purchase the filter prior to going.
