Just reading through the trek notes for Cape York and one part has Moreton Telegraph Station to Cape Weymouth 126.26 km E 102° 17 hr 43 min, can anyone please confirm approx times they took to get out to Chilli Beach please?

What about if you went in from the track just north of Archer River how long is that?

If it helps,

The usual 'good' run from Weipa to Chilli is 4 - 4.5 hours most of the year.

Enjoy

Litlbalt,

It seems this number in the notes may be incorrect. As it is taken from live GPS data it may be that the person recording it had some dramas. I would be happy to update this if someone has a plot file for this section of the route.

If you go via the Frenchmen's Track .....allow yourself 7 hours as the going can get tough and the crossing of the Pascoe River may require snatching/winching. If you go via the main Lockhardt road from the PDR then about 2.5 to 3 hours from the PDR.

Chilli Beach to Batavia Downs via Frenchman's Is about 2 1/2 hours on a good run. only slowdown is the Pascoe and a couple of smaller crossings. Pascoe is steep in and steep and rocky on the way out but not too much trouble. Never had to use a winch or snatch in the 7-8 times we have done it.

Coming in the bottom way is about a 2 hour run, Iron Range lookout is worth a stop.

Good luck.
