Hughenden to Cairns, which way?

G'day, wanting some advise from those that know, the quickest way from
Hughenden to
Cairns, via Flinders Hwy to Townsville or via Kennedy Developmenatal Road? Second route is some 135kms shorter, but Google says an hour and a half longer. Thanks in advance.

Google doesn't know about road works.
I would be going The Lynd,
Atherton, Mereeba and then down into
Cairns.
