Hi All,

We are planing a rellie run to Longreach , Townsville then back to home in the July school holidays and Barringun would possibly be a over night stop, what I am wanting to find out is where to stay and what is available there facilities wise (Toilets would be good, showers not essential), is it a free site or not?

Any other good overnight places between Barringun and Longerach would also be helpfull.

Thanks for your time

Trevor

I was there a few weeks ago, I would go back just to talk to the 88 year old lady who has run the tattersalls hotel there for the last 46 years. What she doesn't know about the areas history and its residents is not worth knowing. There is a place across the road, its name escapes me at the moment, which caters for vans its a bit rough but ok for an overnight stay.

I was there last week in my truck.I stopped at the pub for a coffee.Mary directed me to her kitchen and I helped myself to coffee and home made ANZAC biscuits. There is a shop down the road. You would get a shower no problems.

bigmark,

Glad to hear Mary is still there - I'm amazed how she does it. :-) much prefer to stop at the pub and have a chat with her.

Yeah mate it is pretty much covered. You have Mary in the pub and a bit of a road house which has a camping area but I don't think they do a lot of trade.
Mary is full of stories, including her view on "free sh1ters", she will no doubt fill you in. Otherwise there is not much there, about 30km to Enngonia or 130 to Bourke south bound or 150 to Cunnumulla north bound.
