I am heading out from Dalhousie and just zig zagging down from the French line to the
Rig road and then back up again before the
Birdsville road...Everyone has there preferred route... French Line is the busiest which is like the main road through... I prefer to go down a couple of roads to clear the traffic a bit...
A camper is very frowned upon,,,, lookup some past posts on campers through the simpson......___________________________________

Camper Trailers are only frowned upon mainly because the National Parks people have to remove the obandoned ones, and they are blamed for chopping up the dunes, which depends on the driver much the same as if you arnt towing, some dont let there tyres down etc.
