Isatphone Pro probs

Anyone had probs after the last firmware upgrade (5.2.2 IIRC)?

I've attempted to call about 30 times now with 4-5 bar signal strength and good GPS fix and it's succeeded only twice.

The call gets disconnected while dialling or gets a temp network error, try again.

Sometimes it loses the comm sat and no amount of searching or getting another GPS fix improves that.

All fine with ours. What did the people that you purchased it from say?

I think the latest update firmware is supposed to be ver5.3 or you will have problems.

Dennis posted about this a while back in post - 100483

This means you should be able to check on your phone for systems and it will read 5.3

Mine is working fine - just checked it last night.

Regards

I had problems with the CD supplied with the phone as it didn't want to run properly on my computer. I have XP & I think it works best from Windows 7 onwards. gave the disc and my phone to one of the guys here at work and he was able to load all the firmware updates for me. Used the phone every day during our recent 2 wk trip and I think th esound quality was much better a lot less echo and delays between hearing and talking.

Happy so far. Be interesting to see though if everything still works post June 30 when if you haven't done the upgrade the phone will cease to work?

Are you sure June 30 is the correct date , I understood it was extended to the end off the year.

Must admit that following on from the initial discussions about this issue I hadn't kept up with any further discussion. Initially I think it was up to the end of the month. Anyway just hope my upgrade done in early May should have fixed the issue.

Whatever vers. it is it's the latest I know. Did it a few months ago.

Giving me the irrits.

At Arkaroola on a ridge top I'd have 5 bars and call. Then the bars would drop to zero as the phone dialled and the phone couldn't relocate the comm sat despite me rerunning GPS acquisition.

I'll talk to the retailer but they don't seem to be all that cluey.

Is it still under warranty?

If it was mine and under warranty I would have it in their hot little hands to fix.

The girl here does my updates for me. Buch shee.

And she knows a bit about them as well. But not being a tech she would have to send it away to get tested in a case such as yours.

It's 18 months old. It connected about 50% of the time with the previous firmware.

Despite being out of warranty it's arguably not of merchantable quality, at least with the last upgrade. I had wondered whether the current version was buggy.

Beats me then. I have never had any troubles. Even from down in valleys near Wheelers hut at O'Hagens Camp. That is avery deep valley on Wheelers Creek down south of Corryong in Victoria. I was amazed. The other phone on another service (I won't say who) did not have access.

Maybe just luck. I don't know. But we are okay with this one.

Thanks Merv. That's what it's got.

Talked to the retailer and must swallow my words above.

He sells and rents hundreds of these and has never encountered a prob. like mine. Is happy to have it sent back and will get his tech to check out the electronics and reinstall the firmware.
