I came along the plenty highway and I'm in Alice springs at moment with a stuck tailgate. Anyone have any ideas how to fix it .Toyota couldn't help me and they charged $135 just to take a look. I'm going on the tanami tomorrow, a bit of a pain getting stuff through the back doors help

No to the tailgate sorry Gaz. Have you tried a liberal squirt of snake juice (CRC or WD40) in and around the mechanism and the pins?

Quite a few people would like to know the conditions on the Plenty at present, any chance of an update.

Cheers and safe travels

FWIW my tailgate/kitchen sprang open and waved around for an unknown no. of k's on a dirt road. The hinges bent a little and now the gate bottom is an interference fit. Takes force to open and close.

Hello

The rear door on my Prado 120 is also hard to open as the bush in the bottom hinge has flogged out. This has resulted in the door dropping slightly. Getting fixed soon...anyway..the door will not open if all you do is pull on the handle due to the extra weight on the catch so in my case you have to push hard on the door about 20cm above the handle while at the same time pulling on the handle. The catch then releases and the door can be opened. May or may not work in your case. Fix in my case is two new hinges.

Cheers
Greg

At Toyota in Alice they got in the back over the seats and removed the panel on the inside of the door to get to the lock or so they said. When i got my car back it looked like nothing was disturbed. I have my doubts that they even tried. Thanks

Gaz 290,
what about the weight on the rear door. Take tyre off the door and it may be possible to use the tyre mount to lever up the door to release tension on the lock??
