We are looking for suitable software to upgrade our GPS, that shows the maps of all minor tracks for Australia. We love to go off the beaten track but so often our current GPS shows that we are not on any road or track. Can any members recommend map upgrade/s that would suit our needs please?

Hi, If you have a Garmin, Garmin Topo has all the little tracks etc , even the roads into all the farms etc ,

I agree , my garmin topo A & NZ show my driveway to farm .
its easy to say one is better than the other , imo some maps are better than other in a location .

No mapping will show you every minor track for Australia, mapping can be upto 40 years old and a lot can change in 40 years..... the only time maps get updated now is by someone like Hema that cover only about 3% of Australia that is reasonably current or if someone pay for an area to be mapped for a commercial reason.

We use a laptop with over 50 gig of mapping and we still have issues.

Look at a Hema Navigator.

Garmin Topo is carp compared with the Navigator mapsets IMO - I have vers. 2.

...I think they already have a GPS for which they wish to update the maps on...they are however remaining very tight lipped about what GPS they have so its a guessing game for us :)

Cheers

I sent one final shout after him to stick to the track, to which he replied “All right,” That was the last ever seen of Gibson - E Giles 23 April 1874

Yeah.

They should be aware that Garmins take vector maps; others take raster maps.

Garmin Topo Aus v. 3 is about $200. I gather it's had some input from HEMA.

Thanks for all your replies, a bit slow in getting back. We have a Garmin Zumo which I also use on the motorbike. We have had it for a number of years and have not updated the maps so far.
