fuel consumption in Landcruiser 4ltr petrol engine

i am looking at buying a landcruiser with a 4 ltr inline 6 petrol engine and about 180,000km on the clock. can anyone tell me about the fuel consumption with this motor? also any other info would be appreciated.

Hi Jono, I'm reminded of those shops where they say that if you need to ask how much something costs, you probably can't afford it.
My father-in law says he gets around 16 to 18 litres per 100 km, or around 6 km per litre in his 1996 80 series, mostly highway driving.

And in addition to that Jono, don't expect much better than 20l/100km around town. Go diesel if economy is important, petrol if it's performance you're after.

Jono, nothing wrong with that motor IF it's been serviced regularly. It should be good for 400,000k's+ if it has. I am not convinced diesels are better, especially early Toyota diesels. They require 5,000k
services against petrols 10,000k. Fuel wise, depends how you drive it and where! Expect about 6.5km/l highway running, but remember, you will have a lot more power available, even more than a turbo diesel! If petrol costs isn't a problem, they are far better for towing, especially when overtaking! Hope this helps. Cheers!
