can any one tell me why I get around 10-12l/100ks on a long trip and only around 8l/100ks around townfrom my deisel? Does the fuel pump need recalibrating? Ther's new injectors in it, they made alot of difference. Air cleaner is new....Any help would be great.

Mike, at what speed are you doing these long trips?..Once you start going over 95 km/h the wind resistance factor starts to accumulate and is not directly proportional to speed, but can become a 4 times factor, remember you are driving something automotively related to a house brick.
Try a long trip, or a run between fuel stops so as you can calculate consumption at 80, then 90, then 100, then 110km/h, and you will really see a pattern emerge, oh, and get any racks off the roof if not needed.

I was doing 100-110kmh for the 10-12l/100ks. But I thought I would get the 10-12l/100ks all round except if I was towing. I see most diesels are economical around town and highway driving. The later when a reasonable speed is maintained...

a big factor in city traffic compared to a long trip is your motor is running cold a lot more which means your choke is on and you also do a lot more stop starting heavier traffic the less l/km
