advice about mackay please

looking to go to mackay early sept,never been before ,looking for reasonable hotel type accomodation prefer within walking distance of some seafood restaruaunts if possible.
a mate suggested dolphin heads resort has any one been there or anyother suggestions ?

I haven't really stayed at any because I live in Mackay we use to go swimming at Dolphin heads resort it's ok I don't what the rooms are like though but it's more than 10km north of the centre of town in the northern beaches area or northern suburbs of Mackay. Whatever you find make sure you book ahead because sometimes you will find it very hard to get anything and prepare for the possibility of having noisy miners around you who don't give a s*** about anyone but themselves not all of them are like that though. I've heard Ocean resort village is ok

Can't help with where to stay but will agree that you need to book early & confirm reservations as we had trouble twice this year. Bill
