Hi All,

After breaking our Uniden aerial on our recent Kimberley trip I'm looking at options to replace the aerial without replacing the cable etc.

My local 4WD shop are recommending a fibreglass GME aerial but weren't sure if it will fit onto the Uniden thread that I currently have, does anyone know the answer to this or have any other thoughts?

Regards, Lloyd

G'day, if your 4wd shop doesn't know, I would be going elsewhere. It is very easy to change the base if required and still use the existing cable.

I have a GME aerial on my uniden.

As stated.....you now need to look for a real 4wd shop.

If the base is OK and you just need to replace the whip, the threads are all the same.

I had a uniden in a previous vehicle and was told that all would fit. What I wasn't told is that uniden had a batch of bases that had a different pitch on the thread. You had to order a top from the factory.Luckily for me OLBIS in Bris gave me a whole new set up and were going to take it up with uniden

Firstly what sort of aerial are we talking about here?

If the aerial is one of the common formats, brand will make no never mind.

In fact there are several commonly available areials that are near identical brand to brand.

cheers
