Before a turbo was fitted my 80 series GXL tested at 60hp on the dyno after the turbo fit it tested at 100hp both readings at the rear wheels.
Turbos work most efficiently under load and are therefore ideal in a towing application. Contact me if you require more info. Cheers Rob

Lokk at the relative torques for towing. I have recently swapped from normally aspirated 80 series cruiser to TD auto Prado - I think ithe Prado tows easier.

We have a turbo 4.2 litre patrol my friends who have std diesels are amazed at how our car tows a horse float with a big horse in it up a
hill and we don't have to change down gears. we have towed a boat as
well and it goes like a dream. once you have one you wouldn't be with out it. Having said that the bigger engine is the best way to go. a 2.8 litre t/d will not be as good.Di
