I read that on 11 and 12 August, the famous Morning Glory cloud formations appeared over the Gulf of Carpenteria.

ABC online article

This is early, they usually don't show up until September. Have they appeared again? I can't find any news online, does anybody here have any updates?

I'd love to see these, but I can't go this year. I've been researching this a bit but still have some unanswered questions: How predictable/regular are they? Would it be possible to plan a few days stay in the area (i.e., Burketown) and be reasonably confident of seeing them on at least one day? If so, what would be the best dates to choose? And how do I arrange a flight to get a good look at them? Preferably in an actual airplane, I'll pass on the ultralight thrill ride! :)

Others are better qualified to comment Candace but when I was working in the gulf not far from Burketown many moons ago I saw them on consecutive days, in August, but that was the total show for whole of July-Aug-Sept.
